Where to Bring Your Mom This Mother's Day in Toronto

The month of May is all about flowers coming into bloom, more time outside in the sun and celebrating the women who birthed us into this world! Don’t wait until the last minute to show Mama how much you care. We believe the best gifts are experiences you can share, rather than flowers that wilt in a few days and candles that collect dust on a bookshelf. Here are the best ways to spend quality time with your mom this Mother’s Day in Toronto.

Start your day with a leisurely brunch

For all of those meals your Mom has made you during her lifetime, return the favour by taking her to one of the many Mother’s Day brunches throughout the city. At the appropriately named Maman, get a fixed menu brunch for $50 CAD per person that includes a starter, main, dessert, coffee or tea and, of course, a mimosa. The Drake is also hosting their Mum’s Day prix fixe brunch for $39 CAD (drinks not included), or you can blow her away with a table at the Four Season’s Cafe Boulud, where you’ll find delicacies like oysters and foie gras gracing the menu.

Spend time outdoors at the Brickworks

You can burn off brunch with some exercise at Toronto’s Evergreen Brickworks, a former quarry in the Don Valley that’s brimming with excellent hiking trails and stunning views of the downtown core. Their Saturday farmers market is a perfect opportunity to pick up some local produce if you want to cook mom a meal at home, and the Sunday market showcases crafts from local artisans and a slew of delicious food vendors. A day at the Brickworks is the perfect way to spend a wonderful Mother’s Day without spending a ton of money!

Indulge with an afternoon at the spa

Nothing says self-care like a day at the spa. Book a package for Mom to go solo or take advantage and book a spot for you to go along with her. Toronto has no shortage of options, like the Elmwood Spa, located in the heart of the city at Yonge and Dundas, which has a Mother’s Day package that includes a Mani-Pedi, massage, water therapy and three-course lunch. Yorkville’s Novo Spa is also offering special packages exclusively for moms all month long.

Get crafty with a hands-on workshop

Artsy Moms might prefer a Mother’s Day gift that gives them the chance to be creative. If that sounds familiar, then check out the Bite Beauty Lab, Toronto’s clean-beauty make up brand with lessons in lipstick making at their flagship store on Queen West. Colour artists help you blend your perfect shade and let you choose the scent and finish before heading home with a personalized bullet lipstick! If makeup isn’t her thing, then maybe something like a flower arranging course would suit instead.

Make mom feel like a Queen with a classic afternoon High Tea

Mothers with refined tastes will love an afternoon high tea at the historic Fairmont Royal York hotel, where savoury sandwiches and gourmet pastries come complete with live musical entertainment and a tea menu exclusively for the occasion. Reserve your spot early — tables tend to go quick!

Book a weekend getaway

For all that they do for us, dedicating just one day a year to our Mamas doesn’t feel like it truly does them justice. If you can swing it, consider planning a mini-weekend vacation for mom and treat her up. Want to really go all out? Consider a room at the Four Seasons, whose epic spa and luxurious suites are sure to make for a weekend in Toronto she won’t soon forget.
